As per usual a New Year brings along hope and expectation along with the traditional Honours List,

However in this modern era which we all reside this time honoured tradition is not as prestigious as it was once with a lot of celebs getting medals and sword placed about their person for no real reason.

However an exception to this rule and for his services to football and in particular the top four clubs of England and his extensive work at keeping the smaller upstart unfashionable teams on losing streaks Phil Dowd has double celebration in that not only has her majesty deemed him fit for him to be called Sir Phil Dowd but another revered Knight of The Realm has announced that the now Sir Phil Dowd who is now his equal Sir Alex has stated he should be entered into the Manchester United Hall of Fame along such luminaries as Bobby Charlton, George Best Duncan Edwards, Denis Law etc, etc.

A fitting tribute don’t you think ?

Yep, he’s joined the ranks of the United Referees Club! He’s usually very good when refereeing our games but that was a stinker of a decision to send off Sammon. I hope Martinez appeals the red card.
