Wigan Athletic Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson has spoken out following a string of false stories of the imminent arrival of Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard by both the printed and internet media.
Jackson has revealed that the closest that Latics ever came to signing the Championship hit man was an informal discussion a few weeks ago. Speaking of his disappointment of the media’s handling of the non story as a whole, he insisted,
“We are disappointed by suggestions that talks are in an advanced stage. Some reports even suggest the player has turned down a move to Wigan Athletic, when in fact, no bid has been lodged.
“It is normal for clubs to communicate with each other to ascertain the availability of players – especially during a transfer window. However, we believe these conversations should remain confidential, otherwise, as we have seen in this instance, it can lead to exaggerated speculation.”
TNS’ POLICY HAS ALWAYS BEEN NOT TO REPORT RUMOURS OR INNUENDO. I THINK MR JACKSON’S COMMENTS PROVE THAT THIS POLICY IS THE CORRECT ONE.
There will be real news on real signings from TNS as soon as the club have officially announced them – and not before.

You will always get speculation in this media age folk on the message board will always tittle tattle stuff seen or heard elsewhere.
Until it says on here N.E.BODY is a Latic, then I take it all with a pinch of salt, remember everyone loves a bit of gossip & being first with a scoop!
