So to 4 years later, Wigan could do with the points, we’ve been in the relegation zone since the start of October. But of late we are playing with a good fighting spirit, our last 8 games have brought 13 points and some goals.
Chelsea away has never been a strong point for Wigan since that Emile match we’ve lost the next 3 matches including the 8-0, 2 years ago, to allow Chelsea to win the Premier League. In fact in the 6 times we’ve been to Stamford Bridge, Emile’s goal served up the only point we’ve taken back up the M6.
But to more positive notes, Wigan are showing some good form, we did take a point from them in December. So too are Chelsea under Di Matteo, there may be an element of tiredness in the Chelsea team, but I’d imagine the other Roberto will rotate his squad to compensate.
Also Chelsea come in to the match with a few key injuries in Terry, Cole & Lampard, hope Dave’s stocked up the Bollinger @ the DW bar. Wigan have Mr Rodallega missing, but hey that’s okay as we have Maloney & Caldwell as striker options.
Ref for the match is Mike Jones……enough said, but then again we have Phil Dowd for the United match so we’ll surely end that match with less than 11 players and bans to deal with……..back to the match.
A good chance of a point maybe? If we play like we have recently I can’t see why not! Others teams around us in Bolton & Blackburn play at the same time and have matches they too could pick up points.
Come on Wigan!
