The TNS Top 50 Latics players: Number 8 – Lee McCulloch

Yes I know it’s been a while……
You can always tell the measure of a man by how he deals with matters in the face of a crisis. Glasgow Rangers were in a real mess this summer but one man made it clear where his heart was. The career of a footballer is short and many Rangers players were attracted by the prospect of trophies and more or less guaranteed European campaigns year on year and that this had been taken away, not the fans or the ground or the substance of the club, but even so, well you couldn’t blame many of them for seeking a game elsewhere. Not Rangers captain Lee McCulloch. Sure, like many other Wigan Athletic players, he left for a bigger club but this club was his club and arguably the only club he wanted to leave Wigan Athletic for and sure enough despite being demoted three leagues, at Rangers he has stayed.
