There's a new Mudhutter on sale this weekend

The strange thing about printing a magazine is that there is often quite a long lead time between pulling together 52 pages (yes you read that right we've done FIFTY TWO PAGES this time) and sniffing that box full of glossy paper and searching out the first spelling mistake.

It may have come to your attention that there have been a few, let's call them "events" involving Wigan Athletic over the past week or so. We set our stall out early and actually wrote 40+ pages of this issue before Saturday. It has to be done that way given the tardy response times of our wonderful contributors, bless them.

So technically we were still a Premier League club when we wrote it, indeed we still are - although we may not be by the time you read this, oh stop waffling you wally! We have however shoehorned in half a dozen pages or so of post FA cup reaction and a soupcon of FA Cup related nostalgia. We have also reminisced over our eight years of Premier League football in full recognition that it may be nearing it's conclusion.

But a football club is for life not just for cup ties and relegation so our minds quickly drift off elsewhere; and a magazine isn't just for football, it's also for life and it doesn't take us long to divert to the other things which matter: music, pies, chippy, community and Wigan life. It is mainly football in this one mind you, apologies for that, normal service will be resumed next season.

So it's 52 pages for just £2.00 and please bear with me as I rattle off how to become a purveyor of said product for about the 42nd time just for those who constantly ask [adopts saracastic voice] "ah don't know where to buy it from......"

A digital dish of dysfunctional drivel

MFE41cover

Otherwise known as Mudhutter Issue 41 and it’s now online and available to download for your Kindle / iPad / inferior tablet you got from Groupon for £49.99.

Simply click on the following link to buy the latest issue for just £1.49: http://www.mudhutter.co.uk/digital/item/84-mfe-41-digital-edition

The mag just about captures the euphoria of a trip to Wembley thanks to a few late substitutions but is still punctuated with resignation and concern about the dire Premier League situation we find ourselves in and the general malaise surrounding our hapless, hopeless and occasionally absolutely unplayable football team. So yes, if it's a reflection of the football team you're after them expect to see a magazine that is regularly underperforming, occasionally brilliant but mostly moody, surly and nonchalant while the rest of the world is screaming blue murder.

New Mudhutter on sale today

MFE41cover

You know when you fill a magazine with despair, moaning and vitriol and then something happens which improves the mood dramatically as to render 80% of your content redundant just a few hours before it is due to go to the printers? Yeah, that.

Only kidding, when were we ever topical in the first place? I don't quite know what to make of this one from the front page to the back but it just about captures the euphoria of a trip to Wembley thanks to a few late substitutions but is still punctuated with resignation and concern about the dire Premier League situation we find ourselves in and the general malaise surrounding our hapless, hopeless and occasionally absolutely unplayable football team. So yes, if it's a reflection of the football team you're after them expect to see a magazine that is regularly underperforming, occasionally brilliant but mostly moody, surly and nonchalant while the rest of the world is screaming blue murder.

It's not just about the football though. We've got comic book theme park nostalgia, musical youth revisited, the ubiquitous pie and chippy chat along with plenty of sideways reminiscing about Wigan life. From Lionel Messi to Italia '90 and all your usual football columns and regular features all the way back to comment on the club's recent and somewhat unexpected FA Cup run. 48 shiny, loving pages of it for the knock down price of £2.00.

Where can you buy this pile of gubbins, I hear you cry even though I tell you this every two months. Well if you're at the match you'll find a bunch of socially inadequate sellers stood on the bridge by the South & East Stand, opposite Rigalettos and also wandering around the South Stand Bar & Champions Bar.

It's also currently on sale in the following stockists:

Mudhutter turns 40

MFE40

It's the tough January edition. They say timing is everything and we have the co-ordination of a p*ssed octopus riding a unicycle. Did we really used to do nine or ten fanzines a season and stand out once a month in December, January and February through wind, hail, rain and snow freezing our collective knackers off? Apparently so....

What does Issue 40 bring us? Well, more of the same gibberish you should be more than familiar with by now. Wigan Athletic based comment and review, Wigan life, European football, Nostalgia, Pies, Chippies. features of Left Wingers and Lee McCulloch and features on scary Wigan characters of your childhood and Ronnie Scott, plus all the regular columns. 48 pages of independent, from the heart writing for just £2.

Where can you get it? Well it's ALREADY in the following places:

Sparks Newsagent, Wallgate, Wigan

Waterstones, Grand Arcade, Wigan

Mesnes Road News, Mesnes Road (obv.), Wigan

The Brickmakers Arms, Woodhouse Lane, Wigan

We will have a light dusting of sellers at today's game v Sunderland, if indeed it goes ahead and the weather isn't too inclement. Hey if anyone is mad enough to give us a hand, get in touch as two of our regulars have seen fit to have holidays in the middle of January and flounced off somewhere, lucky gets. Oh well, I'm sure we'll have some left for the Southampton game in two weeks when it'll be even colder and icier just for Lee & Donuts....

The matchday sellers we do have will be on the bridge and outside Rigalettos definitely from 2ish, maybe a little earlier unless there's a blizzard or the match has been called off. Maybe if it is we'll turn up anyway, that would be wacky. They'll also pop around the South Stand Bar, Champions and give some to the programme seller on Robin Park. I usually do this and the others scream bloody murder at me cos it's warm inside and that.

So please take pity on your frozen Mudhutter seller by buying one and then saying "brr it's cold, now I'm off for a pint in a warm pub" - they never get tired of hearing it!

In a brief encounter with efficiency, all postal subscriptions went out yesterday so you should be receiving them imminently unless your postie has slipped and fallen on his ar*e with all this ice

Finally as ever, you are welcome to place an order online for either or print or digital edition:

Print: http://www.mudhutsmedia.co.uk/emods/easyshop/easyshop.php?prod.67

Digital: http://www.mudhutter.co.uk/digital/item/79-mfe-issue-40-digital-edition

With a million thanks to those of you who support us and say nice things about what we do. It keeps us going, well that and single malt...
